Maximizing young leaders' potential to impact their world through public health, education, and sports initiatives
Andrew Ampah-YFI Center
Established in Abeadze Dominase, Ghana in 2016
After years of having our Ghana Serve, Learn, & Empower program hosted in Dominase, YFI had a community center built in the village. The facility provides housing for YFI participants when its Serve, Learn, & Empower program is in session. During the majority of the year, however, YFI trained Peer Educators host programs for community members. These Peer Educators are volunteers who live in the community and provide public health programs for residents and fellow students in schools, at the community center, and in the neighboring village of Kyeakor. All programs led by these Peer Educators tackle public health issues the communities have themselves identified as important for further education.
YFI Honors Andrew Ampah's Dedication
"Uncle" Andrew Ampah has been an integral member of the Serve, Learn, & Empower leadership team since the program started in Dominase. As a lifelong resident, his passion for the mission of YFI's program has never wavered through the years and he is always available to provide guidance, history about the community and region, and, when necessary, be our fixer for any issues that arise while programs are in session. Due to his passion for YFI's program and mission and his tireless and countless hours spent working with YFI in the community, it was only fitting for YFI to honor him by naming the community center after him.
